CRITICS PICK Best old-school punk band    Antagonizers ATL

Working-class punk rock went out of style here right as the garage-punk boom took hold in the early aughts. Fortunately, those who really felt it then, such as longtime Atlanta musicians Richard Henderson (guitar), Eric Antell (drums), and Billy Fields (bass) never lost their zeal for old-school punk. That’s why all three got the call in 2012 for singer Bohdan Zacharyj’s local relaunch of Antagonizers, a band he originally founded in North Carolina. The band’s universal messages of self-reliance and self-respect continues impressing the old guard and winning over new fans, both here and on the road with famous tourmates the Queers and Gang Green. The May release of the band’s debut full-length, Working Class Street Punk (Pirates Press), unleashed the band’s catchy, tough, and memorable songs that are ripe for circle pit sing-alongs.

Antagonizers ATL “Working Class Street Punk, LP” review

*NEW* ANTAGONIZERS ATL “Working Class Street Punk” 12″ LP

Starting at: $12.99

Antagonizers ATL are Atlanta’s premier streetpunk, rock n’ roll outfit. The music appeals to a wide audience; featuring tinges of straight-ahead Punk, Oi!, and Rock n Roll, with even a dose of Soul tossed in! No surprise, knowing that they are a 4-piece of veteran rockers from such bands as HR (Bad Brains), Follow For Now, A.P.A and Vibram 94. Laced with sing along fist-pumping choruses, high energy stage antics, and always plenty of crowd participation- they always leave fans wanting more.

They have toured with The Pietasters, Infa Riot, The Queers and Gang Green, and shared the stage with Rancid, Agnostic Front, GBH, Cro-Mags, Sham 69, Tiger Army, Vibrators, Cockney Rejects, Templars, Slaughter and The Dogs and more.  It’s clear that they refuse to be pinned down to one sub-sect of punk.

Antagonizers ATL have appeared on numerous Oi! compilations, and a split EP on Rebel Sound with DDC (Fat Skins members). Following this top-notch offer, they also have several other split singles coming up in 2016, with England’s The Crack, and a few other other well-known Punk and Oi! Bands; and even a Soul/Ska band.
